As a college graduate who had recently applied to graduate schools, the Language Assistants (LA) or Auxiliares de Conversación application process was perhaps the least stressful--and most economical (a.k.a. FREE)--of my experience insofar. On their website they have PDF documents outlining each step and section of the application. However, you will need to spend time developing the following:
What to Prepare:
Signed Statement of Purpose
Letter of Recommendation (I received this from my Spanish professor at the time. Make sure to give plenty of notice to whomever you ask!)
Current CV
Once I had turned in my documents and other details on the Profex application site, for this part it was easy sailing. While the program will not reach out to you to tell if you have been accepted or not, all you have to do is to check on your application every so often. Whereas I found the application process to be very straightforward with detailed step-by-step directions, I felt as though information regarding the next steps to be taken after having been accepted into the program were almost nonexistent. Due to the fact I struggled to attain my documents for my VISA and the San Francisco consulate reigns in at one the most ridiculously frustrating experience of my life, I’m hoping I may help out any first time expats. Check out my next post for my tips and tricks!
