RC Celta y FC Barcelona

I wasn't lying when I wrote the post about RC Celta versus Real Madrid, and it seems as though that chant did the charm -- ¡a Celta ganó! After a full day at the beach, it was time to dress up in our blue and white, grab our tickets, and head over to Balaídos Stadium. Once again, the tailgate was not to be missed!

Jennie, Lindsey, and I, joined up with our friends Ian, Jude, and Lola, at the stadium for all the pregame shenanigans. Blue smoke bombs, proudly waving flags, and full-voiced chanting filled the streets and rose beyond the stadium walls. Armed with bocadillos and cups of café liquor, we sang along and welcomed the players as they arrived to the field. It was the second-to-last game of the season and against a huge player -- FC Barcelona! While the game wasn't meant to be as serious for Barca -- they already had a guaranteed play in the Champion's League and pulled their best players --, it still posed as a great challenge for our Celta de Vigo.

Nevertheless, Celta surprised us all.

Pulling out a huge 2 - 0 win over Barcelona -- even with their best players on the bench -- was something unheard of! It was so much fun to be a part of the stadium as fans erupted with each goal and celebrated a great victory at the end of a not so great season. As my days begin to dwindle here in Vigo, this game was such a great way to enjoy and celebrate the culture and people of this lively port city! While this was probably my last time seeing RC Celta in action, the team and their fans will always have a very special place in my heart.
