This is it! After so much time dreaming of and preparing for this journey, my time has come.

My blog format is going to change just a little this time around. While hiking the PCT I kept a journal that I wrote in everyday after resting my feet from the many miles they traveled. To be entirely honest, I wasn't sure if I would ever share in this manner. However, being able to express my raw thoughts, emotions, and wonderfully terrible drawings is something I have been empowered by.

I have learned that it's okay to have bad days. More so, I have learned to be more transparent and accepting of my own feelings -- whether they be elation or devastation. After all, who else is there to judge you in the middle of nowhere!

While I may not have learned many of my companions' true names, I was able to see people for their most authentic selves. Authenticity being what I found myself striving for and seeking whether I first recognized it as so or not. So, here it all is for your enjoyment to laugh at or to simply toss aside as ramblings as a woman wandering for far too long on a trail.

Regardless, I hope my story might just inspire. Not so literally as to hike the PCT -- though I highly recommend it -- but to take a step outside of your comfort zone. If I could do 455 miles through our great state of Oregon, I can only hope I can encourage others and continue to make that one step for myself.

Might mean something, but my first day at the CA-OR border is the most tired I look even after hiking the total 455 miles!
